Jan 31st 2010 The 33 car was on display at the ORT show at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort in Lincolnshire, Ill. Carey Smolensky Productions and Mobile Music Entertainment had the #33 car on display in their booth this Sunday. Pictures will be added to the gallery shortly. The event was quite a success and the car received many positive reviews. If you would like the #33, or any car from the American SuperCup Series, at your show please contact us to set something up.
Jan 11th 2010 The World of Wheels was a huge success and we were able to meet many fans in the Wisconsin area. Some had seen us race and others were asking where we would be racing this year. Be sure to check the series website for pictures and you will also find some in our race/show pics soon. The series website is www.americansupercups.com and you will be able to track our progress there as well.
Jan 2nd 2010 Happy New Year!! We hope you all are ready to start the new year off with a bang. First, from all of us at Andrews Motorsports, we would like to thank everyone for their support this past season, from Luke at Sticker Dude Racing for the beautiful wrap he put on the 33 and the awesome body work/paint jobs provided by Tom over at Advanced Auto Works. You guys had us looking good right out of the gate and that was really cool. Sarah from Traver Construction for her continued support as well as Sevtap and Rick at the Machesney Park Steak 'n Shake, they provided with us meals after a night at the track and some awesome hospitality. Patti, from Hairs' Us and her unwavering support even when things aren't going so well. Lets not forget Tim at Motocam, but unfortunately, we weren't able to provide the views we wanted as the first race also hurt the camera. We would also like to thank John Jurik for his help in getting the 33 back on the track and being competitive after a long delay. Look for us at the World of Wheels in Milwaukee from Friday the 8th to Sunday the 10th and we will be happy to talk racing with you!! See you there!
Dec 24th 2009 Merry Christmas everyone!!
Nov 2009 The car was brought over to Advanced AutoWorks in LakeVilla for some necessary repairs and a brand new paint job for the 2010 season. We know its in good hands with Tom and we can't wait to see the final results!! We are also on the lookout for more sponsors so if you know of anyone looking to market a product or advertise their business please recommend Andrews Motorsports.
Oct 2009 The team has decided to join another SuperCup series for the 2010 season. This decision was based on some basic differences that we were just not able to support in the previous series. We hope they have success but it is time for us to move along. Andrews Motorsports will be running in the American Super Cup Series in the 2010 race season. This is a new series in the Midwest. Join us in the inaugarual season of the ASCS and follow us as we race our way to the front!! More info to come shortly.
Aug 30th 2009 Rockford Speedway........what can you say, the 33 was ready to have an awesome run at another top 5 but the soft brake pedal was still an issue we thought we had resolved. The heat race saw the 33 unable to stay with the pack on the start and from there had a heck of a time playing catchup. A 5th in the heat was not what we wanted. The feature was another story. The 33 started in the 5th row inside and on the start someone got loose coming out of 4 to take the green and the 33 was caught up in the accordian effect. Andy got into the back of the #31, driven by Mick Ellis, and the #18, driven by Jeff Myers, got into the back of the 33. This sent Andy into the infield area where the car was inoperable. What a way to finish the season......just like we started it!!
We would like to Thank all our sponsors for their efforts this year and we hope to be back next season with a shot at getting back to the results we had in "06.
Aug 15th 2009 Dells Raceway Park.....found the Supercups preparing to put on some awesome racing for the night. The 33 arrived with the intention of building on last weeks effort but could never really get the handle on the car. In turn 4 on the exit we were way too tight but in 1 and 2 it stuck like glue to the bottom. Andy tried to run a higher line through 3and 4 to alleviate this condition but found himself giving up positions. The heat race saw Andy and Jimmy Scanlon (running the #81 car for Dakota Potts) battling it out for the 5th spot with Andy getting by the 81 by a nose at the finish line. Somewhere along the way we picked up a soft brake pedal that had us being very cautious during the feature. Again the 81 and 33 battled hard, changing positions numerous times. This was great racing for the fans but not so much for the drivers as they watched the leaders pulling away. In the end it was the 81 getting under the 33 on the exit of 4 and holding the spot till they crossed the line in 8th and 9th, respectively.. We will be back at Rockford in 2 weeks, hope to see you there!!
Aug 8th 2009 We finally hit the track!! I would like to thank our good friend John Jurik for all his hard work in getting the 33 back on the track. We went out for the first practice and the car felt fantastic, we only needed some minor air pressure changes for the heat to feel even more comfortable. In the heat race, the 33 got a strong push down the front stretch from Erik Gerhke in the 9 car( the eventual winner) and got a little loose in turn 1. The 18 took advantage of this and went for the pass underneath. However, Andy gathered the car back up and fought hard on the outside to hold off the 18 from moving into 2nd. It was the 18 on the last lap that was able to pull alongside the 33 and nose him out at the line. Not a bad start to the nights racing from our perspective. The feature saw the 33 starting in row 3 on the inside. After we took the flag and were racing side by side in turn 1 the 4 car of Steve Naples decided to move down and make contact with the 33. Andy responded by letting him know we were there and then the 4 came down 1 more time. Andy responded once again and the waited for the 4 to try and slam him once again. When the 4 came down as predicted the 33 checked up a bit and the 4 car spun himself over the nose of the 33. Andy found himself with an open track and proceeded to track down the 13 of Jamie Domski. The 13 and 60 were bouncing of each other when Andy caught up to them down the front stretch. In stead of forcing the issue Andy backed off a bit and settled in for a top 5 finish. This was a great return to the track for the 33 and quite satisfying as our hard work paid dividends. We cant wait to get back on the track for the next race. Hope to see you there!!!
June 6th 2009 The 33 had all intentions of being on the track but unfortunately some damage was found on the left front that went unnoticed previously. We have every intention on being ready for the green flag at Rockford next Saturday Night. We hope to see you there.
May 17th 2009 Rockford Speedway, where some of the best short track racing can be found, was where the SuperCups could be found last night. Andy was ready to get his car on the track and see if all the off time had him prepared. A couple of solid practice sessions left the 33 team feeling pretty good about the upcoming racing. In qualifying, Andy put the #33 in the 5th spot out of 16 cars. This put Andy on the outside front row of his heat race. With a great starting spot, what could go wrong? Well the #9 of Erik Gherke was right behind him on the start and proved to be to fast to keep up with. The real race was between the #18 of Jeff Myers and Andy. With both cars struggling to get away from each other at the line it was the #18 by a nose. Andy took home a 3rd in the heat race but was quite certain that a gear change for the feature would produce better results. Unfortunately, the #2 car driven by Sam Morici, caused a big wreck in turn 4 that took out 3 cars. Andy had nowhere to escape and run hard into the #31 of Mick Ellis, turning him into the #22 of Erle Hoth. All 3 cars were damaged badly and parked for the evening. This was a great night cut short by another drivers impatience and has put the 33 under some extreme financial duress. The car will be put back together as soon as possible. We still have some shows to do and still have the passion to get out there and compete so keep checking to see how the car is doing. We hope to have the car ready by June 6th for the Plymouth race.
May 10th 2009 The 33 made the trek up to the Wisconsin Dells for the first race of the 2009 season. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other intentions. The skies opened up on Friday evening and left the track unraceable on Saturday. The track had some weeping issues in turn 2 so racing was cancelled for the evening. The 33 and a group of others went to the local go-kart tracks and had a ball racing against each other. We hope to see you all at Rockford Speedway next Saturday Night and hopefully we can get some racing in. Dont forget to join Andy and Erle at Steak 'n Shake across from the track after the nights racing for a meet and greet!! See you then....
April 3rd 2009 Andrews Motorsports would like to welcome Advanced Auto Works, Inc.and MotoCam360 as marketing partners/sponsors for the 2009 season. Advanced Auto Works, Inc. will be taking care of the #33 to make sure the body looks good for shows and parades. Andy will do his best to keep it from getting torn up on the track. MotoCam360 has provided Andy with an in-car camera so they can see what our racing series is like. They will use this footage to help promote their cameras as well as our series. This camera will also allow Andy to show his sponsors what his view is like from behind the wheel. Thank you Advanced and MotoCam for your support this coming year.
Mar 15th 2009 The Awana show at the Church of Barrington was yesterday and went off without a hitch. The cars that the kids designed were awesome and traveled the track at great speeds. However, the cars built by Andy and Erle didn't fair so well. Only 1 out of the 4 completed the initial run but after a few adjustments they were all able to find the finish line. Andy and Erle were the guest judges and handled the official scoring for the event. The event concluded when Andy and Erle fired up their SuperCups and did some hot laps around the parking lot.
Mar 8th 2009 Don't forget next Saturday, The Awana Grand Prix will be held at The Church Of Barrington. The events of the day will start around 9:30 a.m. and will last throughout the day. The 4 cars that Andy and Erle are working on are now being painted and then will be scaled to be at the right weight. Please come out and join us and cheer the kids on that have worked hard on their cars. Also, remember that if the weather permits we will be racing around the parking lot in our SuperCups.
Feb 17th 2009 We have been working on a few cars for the Awana Grand Prix event at the Church of Barrington to be held on the 14th of next month. Andy and Erle Hoth have combined efforts to build 4 grand prix race cars to give to 4 kids who have struggled to build their cars but would like to participate in the event. We will both be in attendance at the race with our SuperCup cars and if the weather permits we will race them around the parking lot. Come on out and enjoy the events and cheer the kids on!! Hope to see you all there!!
Jan 2nd 2009 The 33 car will be displayed tomorrow at the Church of Barrington for their annual Awana Grand Prix event. Please come out and support the kids who have worked very hard to build themselves a fast car. We all know how hard that really is and any support will go a long way in building confidence. The church is located a 1/4 mile west of Ela Rd. on Lake-Cook Rd. Come out and enjoy the festivities!!!
Dec 7th 2008 The 2008 season has officially ended and the banquet was held at The Sabre Room in Hickory Hills last night. The festivities began with an incredible video that was produced by this years champion Erik Gehrke. It covered many of the things that happened during the course of the year and was very well put together. The awards were handed out to everyone that was there and an awesome meal was provided by the Sabre Room. It was after our awards and dinner that we were treated to a Christmas Show that is put on by the Sabre Room every year. Some found the show to be offensive and others found it to be very entertaining. In the end, a good time was had by almost all. We would like to thank all our 2008 Sponsors, Luke at Sticker Dude Designs,
Larry at Deer-Park Collision, Donald at Steak "n" Shake, Patti F. at Hairs Us, Sarah at Traver Construction, and Ken Jones at Ultimate Motorsports.
We would also like to acknowledge Sids of Illinois for all the work they do in supporting families that have lost a child to Sids (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Our nephew, Brendan Nobuo Maruyama passed away on 10-18-1985 at the age of 4 1/2 months old. Thank you all again and have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year....See you next year!!!!!!!!!!
Sept 21st 2008 First time at the track this year and the 33 started in the second row right behind the pole sitter,#81. Not wanting to wait to see if the 81 would pull the same stunt on the 00 on the outside pole the 33 pushed the 81 down the backstretch to ensure a good start. The 81 got out front and the 33 was never able to get any closer than 2 car lengths. Andy finished 2nd in the heat with the 22 closing fast. The feature had its own adventures to say the least. With the 7 car on the pole and the 33 on the outside, the pedals were to the floor going down the back stretch to take the green flag. The 7 got an early lead and by the 2nd lap going into turn 1 he got a little loose and lost the car on the exit of turn 2. The 9, 22, and 33 were able to get by him but what happened next brought the crowds to their feet. The 18, 60, 4, 81, 11 and 31 all got tangled up with the 7. The 60 was flipped over on its roof after contact with the 4 car. When racing resumed the 33 was lined up 2nd to a very strong 9 car. After holding 2nd for the majority of laps, the 33 was passed by the 22, 00, and 18 car. The 4 car was also right on his bumper. Andy brought back his second 5th place finish of the year. A pretty strong finish to the year but from where we started to where we ended up you can see the progress and that's all that matters.
Sept 14th 2008 Dells Raceway Park, rained out. Don't forget to see us at Madison International Speedway on the 20th.
Aug 31st 2008 Looking to have to have a better run this time out as we were back at Plymouth Speedway again. A few changes in the setup and things went from somewhat off to really off. A 6th in the heat and a disappointing 11th in the feature. Oh well, that just how it goes sometimes. We'll figure it out and get going!!
Aug 16th 2008 Plymouth Speedway. A poor qualifying run but the 33 was on the outside pole due to the invert. The 81 was the pole sitter and must have felt some pressure from the 33 as going into turn 3 before the green flag was dropped, the 81 turned hard right and knocked the 33 up out of position. The flagged was dropped and the 33 who was on the outside pole started at the back of the pack. He did manage to climb back to the 5th position and at the end of the race let the 81 know that wasn't very good racing. In the feature the 33 moved up to 4th by the 4th lap only to drop a spot when the 29 got under him. The 60 wasn't to far behind the 29 and also got by the 33 moving him to 6th. The 33 held onto 6th place til the last lap when the 00 got a nose under and they drag raced down the backstretch. The 00 was able to pull out the spot at the line . That was racing side by side, the way it should be. Thanks Tony, that was fun!!
Aug 10th 2008 The heat race was exciting at Rockford this weekend. The #81 was leading going into the white flag lap when he stuttered on the backstretch and the pack of cars hot on his tail swarmed around him. The 33 gave the 22 a little push to get him in the lead and the 9,31,33,81 and 4 raced into the last turn. The 22 took the win with the 33 finishing 4th along the wall and only 3ft out of 3rd. The feature saw the 33 continue to be dialed in but still come up a bit short. He raced with the leaders til the end but gave the 29 enough room to take the 3rd spot from him in the waning laps. That was exciting as it was our first top 5 finish of the year. Its been a long road to overcome the internal injuries Andy suffered at the Dells last September. Now that the side by side racing had ended for the night, the team went over to Steak 'n Shake for some side by side shakes.
July 28th 2008 12 cars were in attendance at Rockford Speedway this weekend. The ASA series was the main event but even so the SuperCups have been given a chance to display their talents in front of big crowds and we as a group aim to please. Dave Cerer in the 7 car won his first feature if the year. Unfortunately, Andy had a prior commitment down in Indianapolis that prevented him from attending this race. The cars will be back in action on the 9th of August in Rockford, in the meantime check out the website for shows where your favorite car may be. See you in Rockford on the 9th!!
July 21st 2008 At Plymouth Speedway in Indiana, 13 cars made the trip and provided the fans with some awesome racing. In the 2nd heat the 33 had quite a battle with the 67 of Skyler Murphy and the 7 car of Dave Cerer. It took some time but Andy was able to get by the 7 but the 67 ran an awesome race and pulled away at the finish. Kudos to Skyler as this was her best race so far this year and we can only bet the 67 will be strong for the remainder of this year. The feature saw the 33 start in the 3rd row outside and right out of the gate he was aggressive and battled the 00 and 31 for the 5th spot only to see the 60 sneak by. Not to worry the 33 stayed with the 31 and battled with him and the 4. In the end he couldn't pass the the 4 but was able to push the 31 past the 4. A 6th place finish was another good night on the long road of confidence building. After the race we stopped at our favorite place to eat and enjoyed a delicious milkshake. Getting up early the next day saw the 33 and 22 cars rolling through Lake Zurich, Il for the Alpinefest Parade. We passed out over 1000 pens with Andrews Motorsports on them and saw many familiar faces.
July 5th 2008 The night started out pretty good for the 33 as he took home a 3rd place in the heat race. He was able to hold off 2 other cars and finish strong. In the feature the 33 was given a back of the pack starting spot, which at this track is not an easy place to make up ground. He chased the 31 around until the 22 and 29 got together causing a yellow. This allowed the 33 to finally be close enough to the 29 to make a pass and finish 8th. Not a real good night..... but off to Steak N Shake to enjoy a Chocnilla shake and Burger. See you in Plymouth on the 19th ...
June 29th 2008 Dells Raceway Park hosted the SuperCups this past weekend and some great racing was provided by the 14 cars in attendance. Although Andy didn't run as he wanted he did make a strong push to take over the last spot in the heat race but the 81 of Dakota Potts proved to be just a tad stronger at the end. 5th place in the heat but encouraged by more confidence has the 33 looking for better things ahead. In the Feature the 33 again raced the 31 and 7 cars hard but could not find enough room to make a clean pass. An 8th place finish was still encouraging as he was in contention with some of the top drivers and could still see the leaders up ahead. Could it be the 33 is starting to close the gap and has regained some confidence? Come out to Rockford on the 4th of July and see for yourself......
June 15th 2008 At Rockford Speedway this past weekend, the 33 started his heat race in the 2nd row outside and proceeded to come home with a 3rd place finish. This was yet another successful night at the track as he was able to hold off several cars and improve his position by 1 spot. In the Feature the 33 spent the night chasing the 29 with the 5 car in close pursuit. Being able to close the gap but not complete a pass on the 29 and still hold off the 5 car at the same time was a moral victory for the 33 this evening. A 7th place finish with 14 cars in attendance was still a good night for the 33 as again he came home in 1 piece. Afterwards we all went over to the Steak N Shake across from the track and met several people who enjoyed the race. We will be off for a week or so , the next race will be up at Dells Raceway Park in the Wisconsin Dells. We hope to see you there!!
June 8th 2008 Plymouth Speedway in Indiana hosted the cars this past weekend. !3 cars made the trek to the track and for the 33 it was his best heat run to date. Finishing 3rd in the heat after starting on the outside pole was an accomplishment for the 33 so far this year and may show better things are coming. In the feature the 33 was following closely behind the 31 and 7 cars and just tried to keep touch with them to stay on the lead lap. Mission accomplished!! A 9th place finish in the feature was still a good night as the 33 came home in one piece. Of course we had to stop at Steak N Shake in Valparaiso for our favorite after race meal.. Next weekend we will be out at Rockford Speedway....come on out and see the cars run......you can feel the excitement!!
June 2nd 2008 The Dells Raceway Park was host for this weekends racing and all we needed was for the weather to cooperate. The weather did its part but unfortunately the 33 didn't. Qualifying was done with 5 cars on the track at once doing 5 laps. The best lap would be your qualifying time. The 33 was able to get inside the .8 rule and that was progress from the 2 previous attempts. This put him on the outside pole in the first heat. As luck would have it, the pole sitter was the #34 car who put him in the wall to end last year. Being overly cautious and slowly drifting back the 33 had a great view as the aggressive 9 car caused the 34 to spin coming out of turn 4. The 9 car went on for the win and the 33 finished in 7th place. The feature saw the 33 start in the 5th row inside along side the #7 car of Dave Cerer. The 33 finished 11th with a cluster of cars from 5th back to 11th in a tight battle. The 24 car was DQ'd for failing at tech thus moving the 33 up 1 position. We now will head on down to Plymouth Speedway in Indiana. Come out and see the excitement firsthand......
May 29th 2008 Andrews Motorsports is very happy to announce that we have acquired another sponsor for this year. Some of you may be familiar with them as they have always supported us in the past. We would like to thank Traver Construction for their support again this year. Thank you Sarah....
May 27th 2008 The 33 and 11 car of Sam Morici attended the Wauconda Memorial Day Parade and had a great time. We followed the 2 Sticker Dude trucks carrying the girls softball team. The turnout and show of support of this day is incredible. We passed out over 1000 Andrews Motorsports pens and were out of them by the time we reached the end. A great day weather wise and and a good weekend all in all. Hope to see you up in the Dells on the 31st.......
May 26th 2008 Grundy County Speedway, the ASA Late Models and Sunday afternoon racing, how cool is that!! It was 1 lap of qualifying. Coming out of the pits with no time to clean the tires made for some interesting runs and it was reflected in the qualifying times. The 33 was not able to get inside the .8 rule so he was relegated to a deep starting position for the heat and feature races. Oh well, its the challenges that make us better drivers. The 33 followed the 4 car across the finish line for a 5th place finish in the heat race. The 9 car won the heat but was DQ'd for not going directly to tech thus moving the 33 up to 4th. The feature saw the 33 moving up to as high as the 6th position but eventually falling back to 8th. After a late race yellow the 33 got tangled up with the 5 car but moved past him to take 7th place. Now onto the Dells on he 31st. Hope to see you there.......
May 18th 2008 Rockford Speedway was going to be our opening race for 2008 due to the cancellation of our first race. We were able to get some practice and qualifying in and set our lineups but the rains eventually won out and the nights races were called. We still managed to find our way over to The Steak N Shake across from the track and meet and greet some race fans. We were joined by the #22 and #00. Hopefully the weather will be in agreement with some racing on Memorial Day weekend. Hope to see you down at Grundy County Speedway as we are a support series for the ASA Late Models.
May 3rd 2008 The season was set to open at Dells Raceway Park but Mother Nature had other ideas. The track canceled the races the night before due to the weather conditions thus saving us the expense of making the trip. We will be at Rockford Speedway on the 17th of this month. Come see us at the track and also at The Steak N Shake across the street following the nights races. See you there....
Apr 10th 2008 This is not the big announcement we were hoping to put out but at some point we were forced to make a decision on the 2008 season. Due to lack of sponsorship, Andrews Motorsports may be forced to run a limited schedule. Hopefully in the near future we can announce a new sponsor(s) and continue our efforts at the track and shows. We will be at Dells Motor Speedway in the Wisconsin Dells to start the season and we hope to see you there!! Its 3 weeks away.....make your plans now!!
Mar 11th 2008 Can you believe it!! The body of the Monte Carlo has already been completed. It will be mounted on the chassis and brought over to Sticker Dude Designs for the next phase. Deer Park Collision has the Grand Prix body and will also have that ready soon. We are still waiting on a couple of potential sponsors to confirm their involvement in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for the next big announcement.....
Mar 7th 2008 Things happen for a reason, thats what we had to remind ourselves over the last week. Now Andrews Motorsports would like to welcome Deer-Park Collision in Palatine as our newest sponsor. They will be handling the car bodies as far as keeping them in shape for racing and shows. We hope if you need any type of body work you will support our sponsor and take all you vehicles over to them.
Feb 28th 2008 Due to some heavy workloads and no available time to keep up with the cars, The Carriage Werks and Andrews Motorsports have parted ways. This is a sad day for all of us. We would like to thank Ed and Bill over at The Carriage Werks for all the support they have given Andrews Motorsports over the years. Our cars always had cool paint jobs and were praised by many. But as they say, the show must go on. We have made contact with a local body shop and are waiting to see if they are interested in teaming up with us for the 2008 season.
Feb 14th 2008 Andrews Motorsports is excited by the events that transpired today. A meeting with Luke Z. over at Sticker Dude Designs has resulted in a sponsorship agreement. Sticker Dude will provide complete wraps for our cars this year. Having the cars wrapped provides us with endless design possibilities. We can't wait to see where this takes us. Thank you Luke and Sticker Dude for taking us on and believing in us!!!
Jan 21st 2008 We hope you all had a great Holiday season. We trust you were responsible in celebrating the New Year. The 33 is getting put back together as of this day and by the St. Patrick's Day parade it should be completed. We will be using the same colors as last year but in a different scheme. Courtesy of The Carriage Werks in Mundelein. We have a Board Meeting coming up and then followed by the drivers meeting in Feb. This should get everyone up to date as to what is expected this year on the track. Don't forget to mark your calenders to watch the St. Patrick's Day Parade as the SuperCups will be rolling through the big city!!
Dec 5th 2007 The chassis was picked up from The Carriage Werks in Mundelein and brought back home. It has that familiar black paint job I love. The body is still undergoing some repairs but should be ready very soon. Also, we would like to say Thank You for the work they have done on my original chassis and new body. The work on the body was extensive but is coming along quite nicely. When we get it all put together we can then put a driver in it for the 2008 year. Anyone interested? Drop us a line .... Sam, are you out there??
Nov 25th 2007 The CSR banquet was held at The Chicago Indoor Racing venue in Buffalo Grove. There were about 130 in attendance and the awards ceremony was very different than years past. It featured videos and displays of the drivers and their cars. The top 5 in each division was presented individually with their awards and given a moment to thank their sponsors. Andy received his 4th place trophy and thanked his sponsors as well as his wife. Then door prizes were handed out to the lucky winners. All in all it was a very nice event and everyone went home happy.
Oct 26th 2007 We invited our sponsors and some potential sponsors to a night at Chicago indoor Racing in Buffalo Grove. This was our way of saying THANK YOU for all they do for us. After 3 qualifying heats the feature event was set. It proved to be very exciting even though Andy was sitting and watching. He did notice some talent out there that caught his eye. Sam Biggs really learned quickly and had a nice showing for himself. Afterward we retired upstairs for some dinner and conversation. Everyone left with a smile on their faces and a promise to keep in touch. What more can you ask for!! Thanks again for all who made it out and we'll be talking real soon.
Oct 3rd 2007 What a way to end the year. The 33 was cleaned out by the 34 car in practice putting the 33 out of commission. A very abrupt stop into the turn 4 wall and the 33's season was officially over. Not only was the car severely damaged but the driver sustained some long lasting bruises. Definitely not the way we wanted the season to end but at least Andy was able to walk away. Now we just need to completely rebuild the car and start over next year. There is absolutely no better drug than adrenaline. After the races finished for the day it was pretty clear the 33 was still going to hang on to 4th place in the standings as the 4 car was not able to improve his position. Hope to see some of you again next year.....
Sept 9th 2007 Wow.....what a track!! The banking is so steep in the turns all you can see on the exit is pavement. The next thing you know the wall is right there. The 33 didn't qualify as well as he would have liked but it wasn't that bad considering he'd never been to the track before. In the heat race the 33 started on the outside pole and was kinda hung up there as the 8 car had the bottom pretty well locked up. The 33 was able to run on the outside for the race and take home 3rd place. In the feature with a really bad starting position, the 33 just tried to stay close to the 4 car so as not to lose to many points. In the end the 33 finished 11th. 1 more points race to go and the season will come to an end....Come see us up at the Dells Raceway Park. The small car nationals will be the big finale!!
Sept 4th 2007 Another trip to Rockford Speedway. The 33 hasn't done anything to speak of since the early part of the year and this race proved to be much of the same. A 6th place finish in the heat was the start of a long day. Things didn't change much in the feature as the 33 settled for 8th place. In regards to the points standings, the 33 is pretty solidly entrenched in the 4th spot and should have no problem protecting his position. The only one with a chance of catching the 33 is the 4 car of Steve Naples. He has done a good job of learning the ropes and should be a contender for the top spot next year. In the meantime he still has to pass the 33, and we wont make it all that easy for him. The last time we stopped at Steak and Shake for the year. The people there have been great to us and we hope things work out and we are able to put something together for next year. 3 races to go.....Next stop is in Slinger Wisconsin. Come on out and see us as the racing is very exciting!!
August 26th 2007 Another race where the car count was in the 20's. The 33 was deliberately spun with 3 laps left and finished last in the heat race. The feature was a bit more exciting as the 33 caught up to the 31 and was able to pass him on the high side with 2laps left to steal 6th place. A long way from home but finishing on a positive note. Back to Rockford we go on the 3rd of September. Come on out and see us and meet us after at the Steak and Shake across the street. Hope to see you there!!!
August 19th 2007 The Milwaukee Mile in Wisconsin. The day started out with everybody having a hard time getting through turn 3/4 with out an adventure. Since we don't qualify, the cars are placed by points standings. After the 2nd practice the rains came and washed away any idea of getting a race in. Thats part of racing too, Mother nature. Next week we make the long trip down to Anderson Speedway in Indiana. Its a long way from home but a great track to race at. Hope to see you there.
August 12th 2007 New Paris Speedway in New Paris, Indiana. The goal of the day was to break in the new motor but at the same time be competitive. The heat race was not very exciting and the 33 came home in 5th. The feature on the other hand was nail biting at best. The 33 couldn't keep up with the leaders but was satisfied with the way he held the bottom with the 78 in hot pursuit. A 6th place finish again and a positive outlook for the next race at the Milwaukee Mile on the 18th. Hope to see you there....
July 29th 2007 Rockford Speedway. The 33 continues to struggle. Another bad night for the 33 as he did nothing in the heat and and finished 5th out of 8 cars. The feature turned out to be even worse and the 33 went home falling fast in the points race. A 12th place finish is not even worth getting excited about , only angry, but the 33 will keep his head up and keep on digging. We will be installing a new motor this week and pull it out for the first time in New Paris. Hopefully this will give us what we are lacking and get us back up in the front with the leaders. Went to the Steak and Shake across from the track and had a good time as usual. Thank you Seve...as you are always a cordial host !! See you all in New Paris on the 11th of August.
July 23rd 2007 Plymouth Speedway in Indiana. Our first visit there and what a track it is. Smooth like glass and 3/8ths of a mile long. The stands were packed and the racing was fast and furious as usual. The 33 had its strongest qualifying run of the year. Qualifying 2nd with an average speed of 83.367 miles per hour. Going into turn 3 the 4 car moved up the track and the 33 moved up higher to give some room only to see the 33 start walking up the track. After trying to hang on and realizing that wasn't going to happen the 33 spun at least 3 times and skinned the nose of the car on the wall. Behind the 33 was the 48,36 and 67 all of them running into each other and putting the race under red flag conditions. All drivers escaped with no serious injuries with the 36 getting the worst of the damage. There appeared to be no significant damage to the 33 so he took his place last in line. Restarting in the back of the heat the 33 tried to move through traffic only to be thwarted by the 4 car. A disappointing finish was the result. The feature saw the 33 start in the middle of the pack due to the inversion and could never really get going. He started to track down the group in front of him but ran out of laps to complete the run. A 7th place finish is another disappointing finish but again, the car is coming home in 1 piece and we can be thankful for that. The 33 and 22 attended the Alpine Parade in Lake Zurich along with the 18,36 and 4. Great weather was in order and a good time was had by all. See you in Rockford on the 28th!!
July 8th 2007 Madison International Speedway, the SuperCups and ASA Racing....How cool is that for Saturday Night entertainment!!! The #33 had an issue with loose engine bolts. Not a good way to start out for the qualifying run but Andy did put the car through the run as best he could. Starting on the outside of the first row of his heat with the 2 car on the inside, the 33 took the lead on the 2nd lap and held on for 3 laps. The pressure was put on by the 9 car with 4 laps to go and the 33 drove it in to hard in turn 4 and spun out. Oh well, the car appeared to be ready for the feature but just couldn't keep up with the leaders. After seeing the 7 car get up on 2 wheels in turn 2 the 33 just held his spot and kept the 4 car in his mirror. A 6th in the heat and a 6th in the feature is not a very good day by our expectations but the reality is , the car is coming home in 1 piece. Next we head to Plymouth Speedway in Indiana. After the Plymouth race, come out Sunday and see the 33 in the Lake Zurich Alpine Parade. Come on out and see us there!!
July 1st 2007 Back to Rockford Speedway..and this time a 20 car field. The 33 had a good qualifying run but still only ended up 5th fastest. This put him on the outside 2nd row in the heat race. On the start he followed the 7 car and kept the pressure on the 7 and 8. After the 7 tried to make a pass down under the 8 and failed, the 33 worked the rear bumper of the car until the last lap when he dove under the 8 and came up just inches short as the 60 car was able to make the same move coming out of 4 and get the win. Oh well, it was a great race. In the feature, the 33 started on the outside of row 3 but didn't do much with the position. The 21 was able to move up in front and from then on the 33 went back in the pack. The bumping and banging throughout the race was a little excessive but really quite entertaining for the fans. On the white flag lap, coming out of turn 4, the 21 and 31 got together and caused quite a scene as the 9 car pack directly behind them had to do some evasive driving in order to avoid the carnage. The race was finished under caution and the 33 was stuck back in the 8th spot. Again, the racing is fast and furious but so far pretty clean this year. If you have yet to see a race you really should get out and see the series run. Next we will run as a support group for the ASA Late Models up in Madison International Speedway on Sat July 7th. Hope to see you there!!
June 17th 2007 New Paris Speedway... Only 15 cars mad the trip to New Paris but he racing was worth the price of admission. The heat race saw the 33 start on the outside pole but fail to capitalize on his starting position. This led to a 5th place finish and some major disappointment. A gear change and a little pep talk was all the 33 needed as Andy brought it home in 6th after starting on the inside of the 5th row. The 4 car proved to be much improved and put up a heck of a battle as they made it 4 wide through turn 1 and 2 and again in 3 and 4. The fans are treated to that kind of racing without wrecking and show it by their comments in the pits after the races. Next we head back to Rockford Speedway on the 30th. Dont forget to stop by the track and see us race and then over to the Steak and Shake across the street for a burger or a shake!!!
June 10th 2007 Rockford Speedway....The 18 car field is becoming standard fare. This has really produced some great racing for the drivers and fans alike. The 33 started in the 4th row outside and worked hard to move up but encountered some equally fast cars and took a 4th in the heat. The feature was even more exciting as the 33 started on the outside of row 2 and had a little hiccup on the start. That allowed the 9 to pull in between the 4 and 33. After 19 laps of bumper to bumper racing the 9 made his move and went under the 4 for the win. The 33 was doing his best to hold off the 5j and was able to secure a 3rd place finish. Very exciting to say the least. The fans that stopped by the Steak and Shake after the race said we had some of the best racing they have ever seen!! Next week we will try out the track at New Paris Speedway in Indiana.
May 27th 2007 Grundy County Speedway....Our first chance to race with the ASA. What an opportunity to showcase our abilities, not only on an individual basis but our series as well. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas as the rains came and put the race on hold. This race will be rescheduled for some other time, check the website to see when. In 2 weeks we will be back at Rockford Speedway. Hope to see you there and don't forget that we will also be at the Steak and Shake across from the track after the races. Come on out and talk racing with us, sit in the cars and get your picture taken with one of the drivers. Oh Yeah and have some great food at the Steak and Shake!!
May 21st 2007 Rockford Speedway.....Another 18 car field. The 33 started in the back row of the heat race which was only 6 laps long. With 8 cars to pass and only 6 laps to do it in, it was a rather tall order. The 33 was almost up to the challenge as he made a last lap charge that shot him from 6th place up to 3rd. The feature saw the 33 start in the 4th row outside and after 8 laps had worked his way up to 4th place. On lap 9 the 33 took advantage of the 6 car leaving the high line open and went for the pass. Unfortunately, the 6 moved up the track and nearly put the 33 in the wall. With some evasive driving the 33 escaped on 2 wheels. several cars were collected in the aftermath of this situation. The 33 was put to the back of the field and worked his way back up to finish 10th. Considering the car had some front end issues but was still somewhat drive able, the 33 took his points and headed over to the Steak and Shake. The fans that met us there claimed we put on the best racing of the night. If you haven't seen the series run, you are really missing a great show!! Net we head to Grundy County Speedway.....Hope to see you there.
May 13th 2007 Dells Raceway Park...back to one of our favorite tracks. The 19 car field is becoming a standard for the series which is pretty impressive when you consider that the IRL is fielding about 17 or 18 cars. With the 19 car field, the racing has become very competitive with any of the drivers having a chance to win on any given night. The qualifying run of the 33 was average at best but placed him 8th on the starting grid for the feature. In the heat, the 33 started in the 3rd row outside. After having some trouble getting through traffic the 33 managed a 4th place finish. The feature saw the 33 lined up next to the 9 on the front row. On the start the 9 got the jump and and the 33 held his spot 'til the yellow flag came out on the 3rd lap. during the yellow, the 33 had a brake failure and was not able to keep his car up tight to the 9 and lost some spots on the restart. With each restart the 33 went backwards. With a good 10 laps left and no more yellows the 33 was able to make up some ground. with some cars breaking down and the 33 passing others he was able to take home 6th place. What could have been a bad day turned out to be O.K.. The next mission is to fix the brakes, as we are off to Rockford Speedway where a you will need a car in top running condition. Hope to see you at the track and don't forget that after the race we will be at the Steak and Shake across from the track to meet and greet whoever shows up.
May 7th 2007 Madison International Speedway. 9 cars in the heat race with the 33 starting in the 3rd row inside. After working his way through traffic and falling behind the leader by 10 car lengths with 6 laps to go, the 33 finished strong and on the bumper of the #31 car for a second place finish. The feature saw the 33 start on the 4th row inside and worked hard to advance his position in the field. With a clutch that was failing, the 33 was able to hold on to a 3rd place finish. A 2nd in the heat and 3rd in the feature, that is the kind of start to the season the 33 is looking for. Next we will be at Dells Raceway Park in the Wisconsin Dells area. Come on up and see us there!!!
April 30th 2007 The Infamous Milwaukee Mile.......What a great place to start the new year. The #33 opened the 2007 season with a new paint scheme provided by the Carriage Werks in Mundelein, IL.. The practice session provided the #33 with some valuable knowledge on how to attack the track. The #33 started in the back row of his heat race that showcased 9 cars. The #33 worked his way through traffic up to 2nd place when the #5 car was black flagged for leaking fuel. This handed the lead over to the #33 who was hounded by the #2 car fo the last 3 laps. The #33 held on for the win by protecting the bottom. The feature was just as exciting when the 33 started on the pole and was able to hold that spot for the first 4 laps. After driving the car too deep into turn 1, the #18 and #2 cars took advantage and passed the 33. The #18 pulled away for the win while the 2 and 33 swapped positions for the last 14 laps with the 2 getting under the 33 and winning the drag race to the finish line. A Heat win and a 3rd in the feature is a good way to start the 2007 season. Next we head up to Madison International Speedway. Hope to see you there!!!!!
Sept 30th 2006 The final race at Lake Geneva Raceway. Things didn't go as planned but thankfully the weather took control. The heat race was a disaster for the 33 as his carb somehow went out of adjustment. This caused the car to run very erratically. When the race was over the 33 came in last. Then the rains set in and washed away any more racing. It sure helped the 33 as he was leaving the night with 3rd place in the standings. So long Lake Geneva ..... you will always be remembered!!
Sept 18th 2006 The 33 was set to make an appearance at the Wauconda Moose "Day at the Races", however with some family responsibilities to attend to, the 33 was left in the garage. I understand quite a few people attended the event and we sure look forward to being able to make it next year. Sorry Don....it is one of our favorite events to go to.
Sept 5th 2006 We made a road trip to Michigan to race with the group up there. This was a scheduled Showdown race at Galesburg Speedway. An interesting track to say the least. 1/4 mile flat track with 20 something cars in attendance. Along with some questionable track conditions the racing proved to be very rough. The heat race was split into 3 events and with the #33 running in the 2nd heat. Staring in the back on the inversion put the #33 in a bad spot. A few cars in front decided to play bumper tag and the racing was on. The #33 finished in the 5th spot but was very happy to survive. The feature proved to be even more exciting. The #33 started in the 11th spot . On the 3rd lap the 23 got into the 40 and caused a major pileup in turn 4. Some evasive driving by the #33 allowed him to get through without making any contact. On the restart the cars got going again and it wasn't 5 laps later when the 40 was being challenged by the 33. He apparently didn't want to get passed so he spun the 33 on the backstretch. This put the 33 at the back of the pack. In 4 laps the 33 had 1 car between himself and the 40 only to see the yellow come out. Unfortunately, the yellow turned to red as the driver had to be cut from his car. This ended the night for the SuperCups. After some talking in the pit area between the 33 and 40 the cars were loaded and on their way home. Now off to Rockford for the Labor Day event.
Rockford Speedway, Labor Day and the only thing missing was some sun. The forecast had thunderstorms in the area. This led to some practice laps but no racing. The #33 was put back on the trailer and headed home. Thanks to Tri-City Canvas in Wauconda for the awesome car cover as the #33 arrived home bone dry. Next race will be in Lake Geneva on the 30th. Hope to see you there.
August 28th 2006 At Rockford Speedway, the 33 started on the outside pole with the 22 on the inside. The 10 car was directly behind the 33 and on the start had his nose buried in the bumper of the 33. The 22 didn't get off to a good start and that allowed the 33 and 10 to pull out to a rather big lead. With the 10 literally pushing the 33 for the first 2 laps, the field was reduced to a 2 car race. The 33 ended up winning the heat race by 8 car lengths. Not a bad start for the day. The feature saw the 33 start in the 4th row inside. Not a great starting spot as the high line has proven to be the fast line. The 33 continued to move up in the field by being patient and taking advantage of other drivers impatience. By the end of the race, the 33 had moved up to the 4th place. Not bad considering the starting spot. Now we will be heading off to Galesburg Speedway in Michigan for our next race. Hope to see you there!!
August 15th 2006 A bad qualifying day for the 33. A little slip in turn 2 caused the 33 to lift and lose some valuable time, relegating him to the front row in the slow heat. Maybe it was a blessing as the 33 was able to pull away from the 21 and coast to a heat race win. The feature saw the 33 start behind the 21 and literally push him into turn 1. The 21 proved difficult to pass and cost the 33 some valuable positions. After falling back to the 12th spot, the 33 raced the 22 and 48 hard to move up in the pack. After the 81 spun out, the 33 restarted in the 8th spot and worked his way up to 6th. Another yellow with 3 laps to go and on the restart the 33 worked his way under the 31 to take 5th place. It really turned out to be a great night as the racing was something to remember.
August 7th 2006 Missed out on the race at New Paris Speedway. This past weekend is our annual get together with some friends we only get to see once a year. We attend the Nascar race down at the Brickyard every year and really look forward to it. The 33 will be ready on the 12th at Lake Geneva....you can bet on that!!
August 1st 2006 The 33 attended a car show in Lake-in-the-Hills, IL.This show was in support of the D.A.R.E. program. We met many people interested in owning ,driving , or sponsoring a race car. There was a lot of fun had at this event, as was evident by all the happy faces.
July 25th 2006 Lake Geneva had quite a crowd, as many friends were in attendance to show their support for the 33. The car looked awesome upon return from the Carriage Werks. The night didn't start out real well as the 33 never really got going in the heat race. He was able to separate himself from some of the other cars but was never able to challenge the leaders. A 5th place finish wasn't what they wanted to see.The feature provided his fans with some real racing excitement as the 33 moved his way up to 3rd at the halfway mark, unfortunately, the momentum couldn't be captured. After some contact with the 9car in turn 4, the 33 fell back to 6th. By working hard, the 33 was able to pull up along side the 5j and battle for the 5th spot. But with 2 laps to go, contact with lapped traffic caused the 33, 36, and 5j to get tangled up in turn 3. This put an end to the night as the 33 was left powerless. 2 races and 2 wrecks left us hurting in the points and also the body damage was right back to where it was before the repairs. The Lake Zurich parade was attended by the 33, 48, 22, 18, and 4 cars. Kevin Walsh Excavating provided the 33, 48, and 22 with a lowboy trailer to showcase the cars as he pulled us along the parade route. Thank You Kevin....
July 10th 2006 30 cars arrived at Anderson Speedway in Anderson Indiana and put on one heck of a show. There were 3 heat races of 10 cars in each. The 33 qualified for the 2nd race and found the going to be very tight. He bobbled in turn 2 and fell off the pace a bit. After 2 laps he was able to bring the car back up to the pack and put himself right in the middle of it all. They were running 3 wide for the last 4 laps with no one giving an inch. By pushing the 23 across the line the 33 was able to pull out a 5th place finish. Great job by the 31 as he was able to check out on the field!! The feature was even more exciting as 30 cars set out to prove they could win. Starting in the 7th row outside proved to be a challenge for the 33 as he was never really able to move up to the leaders. Running in the 10th spot, right behind the 31, was a recipe for disaster. With 6 laps to go, the 31 was cleaned out by another car. The ensuing spin by the 31 collected the 33, who was unable to move out of the way in time. This ended the night for the 31 and 33 cars and hurt their points for the night. Anderson is an excellent track for these cars and we look forward to running there again next year. The 33 will spend some time at The Carriage Werks to repair the right front as it was torn up pretty bad. On to Lake Geneva on the 22nd and then the Lake Zurich parade the 23rd.
July 6th 2006 Since they don't qualify at Rockford, the cars are placed in position based upon the standings. The cars are then inverted by half the field for each heat race. This put the 33 in the 3rd row outside as he was 3rd in points. The 21 and 31 had both the high and low grooves stacked up and were running side by side preventing any thoughts of passing. The 33 finished 5th as there was just nowhere to make a pass. In the feature the 33 was moved back to the 4th row outside and managed to keep his nose tight to the car in front of him to prevent any cars moving up to the high line. That was pretty much how things stayed as the 21 and 9 were looking to pass but couldn't find any room. 4th in the feature isn't to bad......but I would love someday to win a feature!! On to Anderson Speedway for a Midwest Showdown date...
June 27th 2006 18 cars on a Friday night at Lake Geneva, WOW!! The 33 started in the 2nd row inside but wasn't able to do much but maintain his position throughout the race. The 18 and 31 did an excellent job of running nose to tail and pulled away for an easy 1-2 finish. The 33 finished 3rd. In the 18 car feature the 33 started in the 2nd row inside but had avery hard time getting around the 21. In the 3 laps it took to accomplish that he had fallen to 8th position. He managed to catch up to the 10 and 9 and raced them hard for the last 7 laps to get back into 6th position. This was another race where the 33 learned some very valuable lessons. On to Rockford on the 1st of July.....Stop by and see the fireworks!!
June 22nd 2006 The 33 started on the 3rd row inside of the heat race that had 14 cars in it. He moved the 33 into the 3rd position with 3 laps to go only to slide up the track on the exit of turn 2. The 5j and 31 were right there to claim the spot. In an attempt to regain his position he ran the outside lane. This effort came up a bit short as the 31 edged him out at the stripe. The feature saw 24 SuperCup cars lined up and ready to go. Starting on the 3rd row inside the 33 quickly moved up to claim the 2nd spot only to have the 3 car bump him into the infield. Hanging onto the car and driving back onto the track was a great piece of driving. He slid back as far 7th spot but was able to get back into the top 5 by some hard work through lapped traffic. Not a bad night as he could have been wrecked on the 3rd lap of a 30 lap race. Finishing is always the goal but getting your number on the board is even better!! See you at Lake Geneva on the 23rd...
June 15th 2006 The 33 started on the pole for the heat race and made the most of it by taking the checkered flag. The #9 car of Erik Gehrke tracked him down on the white flap lap but held off at the finish line. In the feature the 33 started in the 5th row inside and followed the 3 car up through traffic. Sitting in the 7th spot behind the 31 he waited until the 5j and 11 cars decided to dance with each other. By avoiding the ensuing melee he put himself in position to finish in the top 5. Proving once again that patience is a virtue!! Onto New Paris Speedway in Indiana on the 17th.
June 8th 2006 Wow!! 41 Super Cup cars showed up at Rockford Speedway on the 3rd and put on quite a show. The junior division had some good racing that had the crowd abuzz. When the adults took to the track they lined up 25 cars for the showdown. The 33 qualified 9th and started on the outside pole. He led the first 10 laps before the #1 car of Gary Whitson took the lead for good. Lapped traffic played a part in the exchange of the lead and also provided the drivers on the lead lap to do some creative manuevers. The 33 fell to 4th before making a run at the 2nd place car of Sam Morici (#11). In the end it was the 33 finishing in the 3rd spot. Not bad for the night as he was able to win the fast heat. A very large field and some awesome racing provided the crowd with some incredible entertainment. Come out and see the 33 and all the other cars at Lake Geneva on the 10th of June.
May 31st 2006 Lake Geneva Raceway saw its biggest crowd ever!! The nights races had the crowd all fired up as they were treated to some awesome racing by the Super Cups. The 33 qualified for the trophy dash and unlike 2 weeks ago where he slipped back, this time was able to put the car in the winners circle!! His first ever trophy dash win.. In the heat race, the 33 got a little loose in 3 and slid back to a 5th place finish. Not what we wanted but still had a positive outlook for the feature. The feature started under some bad omen as the radios were non existent. The goal was to keep the nose buried in the back of the 9 car and follow him to the white flag lap and then a make move and take the checkered flag. It almost worked to perfection but we came up about 1 foot short. It was some of the best, hardest and cleanest racing we have ever been a part of...Kudos go to the other drivers and congrats to Erik in the 9 car. The night was finished by the track putting on a trailor race. The crowd went wild and had a great time. You have to see one in person to believe it!! On Memorial Day the 33 attended the Wauconda parade in honor of our Veterans. The event was very crowded and nicely organized. The 2,10,81,33,48,and the 11 car were all in attendence. Hope to see you at the first SuperCup Showdown in Rockford on the 3rd of June. It should be quite a show as there should be 30 cars at the track!!
May 24th 2006 Another exciting day at the track. 19 cars arrived at Rockford Speedway with one thing in mind.......Winning!! The heat race saw the 33 start on the 2nd row outside and from there he stayed tucked behind the 48 for the whole race. There was the 9 car looking underneath for the better part of the 8 lap shoout but the 33 pushed the 48 across the finish line to protect his 3rd place finish. A very nice job by the 2 car as he got out to a lead and didn't give it up. The feature saw the 33 start behind the 48. A good start allowed us to move in front of the 10 car for 1st and 2nd position only to see that quickly disapper when the 31 was able to stick his car on the bottom and complete a 2 car pass in turn 2. Several cars(#9, #18, #3) took a shot at passing the 33 underneath but only the 3 car had success. Not a bad night as the 33 took home 3rd in the heat and 4th in the feature. Come out to Lake Geneva Raceway on the 27th and see some incredible racing!! Also, the 33 will be rolling through Wauconda on Memorial Day for their annual parade. Come out and see us!!
May 15th 2006 Rained out in Anderson!! Next race is at Rockford Speedway on Saturday May 20th. Stop by the pits after the last feature and meet myself and the other drivers. We always enjoy visiting with you guys and gals. Bring the kids too as many of the drivers will let them sit in their cars. Hope to see you there!!
May 8th 2006 We finally got our first race in this year and it was really exciting!! Not only for the drivers but the fans as well. They were treated to an 18 car feature that showcased the cars running 2, 3 and 4 wide at times!! Personally, it was a good start to the season for me. I was the 4th fastest qualifier. That put me in my 2nd trophy dash ever. I was able to move the 33 into the lead but my inexperience showed as I slipped up the track in turn 2 and fell back to 2nd where I eventually finished. My heat race and feature provided more of the same excitement as I led a little and then fell back. I did finish 4th or 5th in the heat (still under review) out of 9 cars and took 5th in the feature out of 18 cars. Most importantly, only 1 car sustained some damage in a last lap crash. I will be heading off to Anderson Speedway this Sat. night to race with the Indiana and Michigan drivers. Check back for the results.....
May 1st 2006 No Race!!! What a bummer!! Mother Nature had other ideas and the races where cancelled for the evening. I guess now we can look forward to racing in Lake geneva on the 5th of this month. I was not able to attend the show on the 29th at Lee's due to some work obligations.( yes I really do have a real job!!) Since we didn't race on the 29th, the 33 was looking rather clean for the show at Lee's on the 30th. Covered by my new TRi-City Canvas custom car cover we made the drive to the show and the 33 arrived looking as if it had never even seen any rain. The weather was uncooperative for most of the day but still saw plenty of people coming and going. I want to thank John and Jacob for their hospitality and I look forward to working with them in the near future.
April 25th 2006 We invited numerous guests out to Checker Flag Lightning in Gurnee Mills for a night of racing on the 23rd of April. Things didn't turn out quite as planned but nonetheless was fun for those that did attend. We will be putting another one together during the summer and hope to have a better turnout. It is now time to prepare the 33 for the race on Sat...Hope to see you there!! Dont forget, the 33 will be at Lee's Dollar Plus at the corner of Arlington Heights Rd. and Higgins Rd. on the 29th and 30th!!
April 20th 2006 Practiced at Lake Geneva on the 18th and all seemed to be in shape. A few minor adjustments will need to be made and I do believe we will be ready to race on the 29th at Rockford. I definitely have to mention my newest sponsors over at TRI-City Canvas in Wauconda. They made me a custom cover for the car so it can stay dry when in transport in inclement weather. The cover fits like a glove and I am very thankful for their support and attention to detail. Thank you Fred and Bill, I know how much effort was put into the cover and it is truly appreciated!!
April 10th 2006 We had our annual CSR meeting at The Car Doctor in Schaumburg. We had some new faces and even 2 reps from the Indiana series. It was encouraging to see them and get a chance to talk to them. Everybody seems eager to get this going and you could literally feel the excitement in the room. The 18th of this month will be the first chance to get the 33 out on the track as a practice session is scheduled for Lake Geneva. I'll update you on the outcome.....
Mar 20th 2006 The show at Checker Flag Lightning was incredible... There were people at the door right when they opened and it never really seemed to slow down. All the CSR drivers and the fans of racing had an awesome time racing against each other. I personally look forward to working with CFL as they have signed on to help sponsor our series. I think it is a great match up for the both of us!!
Mar 7th 2006 The show at Jalenskys went very well until mother nature decided to brew up a storm. I had to leave earlier than I would have liked but sometimes that happens when you transport the car on an open trailer. All in all, I met some new fans and hopefully encouraged others to come out and see us race. Dont forget, the 33 will be at Checker Flag Lightning in Gurnee Mills on the 19th of March. Its a Sunday and you can race against other CSR drivers for prizes!!
Mar 3rd 2006 Picked the 33 up at The Carriage Werks today and Wow!! did the new paint job look awesome!! I also aquired my new decals for the season, from SignLab,Inc. in Lake Zurich, and proceeded to set the car up. Dont forget to stop by Jalenskys in Kenosha to see the car!! The Show is on the 5th of May!!
Feb 20th 2006 Just got back from Daytona!! WOW, what a track and the racing was incredible. Upon my return I was pleased to learn that I had another show to add to my schedule. We will be at Lee's Dollar Plus (new name is in the works) on the 29th and 30th of April. That is the Saturday of our first race so we will be leaving a bit early with plans of returning on Sunday. Lee's Dollar Plus is located in Elk Grove Village at the corner of Arlington Heights RD. and Route 72.
Feb 6th 2006 Stopped by The Carriage Werks to see the progress on the 33. Looks like the car will be a metallic blue flake without any flames this year. Should be a very cool look for 2006. Also please note that CSR is putting together a show with Checker Flag Lightning in Gurnee Mills Shopping Center. It has been confirmed the show will be on March 19th. This is going to be on a Sunday in conjunction with the big cars racing at Atlanta. OH YEAH..... Checker Flag Lightning is a Nascar simulator store where you can race a car against other drivers at the same tracks the pros run. I'll let you know when more info is available!!
Jan 30th 2006 We brought the car home on the 27th, arriving a little past midnight. We would have loved to attend the World of Wheels show down at McCormack Place in Chicago but unfortunately we couldn't make it happen. I heard the rest of the SuperCups that were there put on an outstanding show. On the 30th we started to dismantle the 33 in preparation for a new paint job and to check out all the welds and nut and bolts. The body will be getting a new paint job by The Carriage Werks in Mundelein. Hopefully upon inspection we will find no major repairs are needed for the 33. Also please note the 33 will be at Jalenskys in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday March 5th!!
Jan 23rd 2006 Another Successful Awana show!! Thank you Myles and Pam for the invite again this year. We really enjoy doing it!! Thanks also to Brandon as he participated in this years show. We arrived in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the Distributor show at the Convention Center. After setting up the booth area we went out for a nice dinner at Bucca di Beppo. The car will be in the booth from the 23rd to Friday the 27th. I will only be in attendance for the last 2hrs on Fri.
Jan 16th 2006 A busy week ahead as we get the car ready for 2 upcoming shows. On the 21st we will display the car at the Awana Grand Prix in Lake Zurich at the Harvest Bible Church. This is the 2nd year we will attend and this year there is room for 2 cars so the #48 of Brandon Scurto will join us. After the Awana show, the car will leave for a week in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is a Distributor Show and Okuma is going to use the 33 in their booth to attract buyers.
Jan 9th 2006 The show at Arlington was pretty successful in the fact that a whole bunch of new people were turned on to the great sport of SuperCup Racing. We met people who had seen us race at Rockford and Lake Geneva the past year and many others who didn't even know this sport existed. It was really cool to meet all the people and even better to know that they purchased some Okuma Tackle!!
Jan 2nd 2006 Making the final preparations to display the #33 Okuma Fishing Tackle Pontiac Grand Prix in the Arlington Park Outdoor Show. The show runs from Thursday Jan 4th to Sunday Jan 8th. Stop by and see us and while your there pick up the latest in Okuma gear.
